We're looking for a few good empty-nesters!

Have an empty bedroom? Love to travel and meet new people? If you are over 50 and like to travel and meet people - this site is for you! Here, the senior traveler will find the lowest cost travel lodging we know of -- FREE! Combine that with the hospitality you will enjoy as a guest in the home of a fellow senior traveler, and you have the essence of Elder Travelers. In addition to having links to the official travel bureaus of all 50 states and links to world travel information as you explore our pages, we have built in the ability for our members to share information about travel resources and even share stories and photos from their travels!

With over 2,300 members in over 1,400 cities in 43 countries you're bound to find a fellow Elder Traveler at or near your destination, or somewhere in-between!

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to provide you with zero-cost lodging anywhere in the world. By using the magic of the Internet as a means of matching up Elder Guests and Elder Hosts, you will be able to enjoy both roles. As a traveler, you will be hosted by others who share their homes and hospitality with you. As a host, you will have the opportunity to meet, entertain and be the local guide for people your age from all over the world. Elder Travelers' lives are enriched by these experiences and by traveling cheaper and traveling more.

What Can We Offer?

The ElderTravelers online database has several features which make it unique:

• Privacy is maintained. Potential guests contact hosts via a tool on the ElderTravelers system, keeping your email address private. This  prevents spammers from joining ElderTravelers for the sole purpose of mining email addresses. 

• The contacted party has control over when they reveal their email addresses and other contact information to the other party.

• It can be searched by Country, State/Province, City, Availability of handicapped access, and whether or not smoking is allowed in the host home.

• Each subscriber can edit/update their own profile in the database. This is done very easily, and it is done online, in real time. In addition, there are text boxes where they can enter descriptions of their host facilities, things to see and do in their area. They can even upload a picture of their house, or maybe a view from their balcony, or something of interest in their local area.

• During times a subscriber is not available to host, they can hide their record from everyone.

• Only Countries, States/Provinces, and Cities that have subscribers are available for searches. This eliminates empty, time-wasting searches.

• We provide links to the best travel information sites we find worldwide. We post photos and narrations of your travel adventures, good stories of friendships made and things you've found to enjoy by being a guest or a host. There are contests and prizes to encourage your participation. Elder Travelers is not a static site. Your stories, travel tips and photos keep things interesting. 

How Much?

We are re-launching in 2008 with a different business model. We have found past success with a modest yearly fee of only $20 -- probably 75% less than a single night in the average hotel -- but hope to drive up membership with no annual membership fee. We are more interested in creating friendships and helping our Elder Travelers find lodging worldwide than making big profits, so we hope to clear expenses with donations and a little bit more advertising sprinkled about.

How can you help us and yourself at the same time?

Use the service for free! If you have a successful trip using us to connect with fellow seniors, consider "tipping" us with a donation. With a link to the secure payment processor "PayPal" (owned by and used by eBay), donations are easy and safe!
