Elder Guests

Responsibilities

  • Make arrangements to be a guest at least two weeks in advance.
  • Remember to be a guest at all times. Be gracious and don't impose.
  • Let your hosts show you around their home turf. They are probably the best guides to good restaurants, activities and site seeing that you can find.
  • If you are a smoker - do it outdoors - if your hosts think it is OK, they will probably volunteer that smoking in their home is OK.
  • Limit your stays to less than 5 days, unless invited by the your hosts to stay longer.
  • If Hosts provide a meal, transportation to airport, provide tickets etc. - offer to help in some way. (Cleanup, help with grocery expense, treat them to a meal out, buy a tank of gas for their car, etc.)
  • Let your hosts know how kind and generous they are to host you during your travels - say thanks!
  • Lastly but most importantly, remember... The concept behind ElderTravelers requires that you be equally open to hosting a guest as being one!
