Carlin envisioned a website connecting senior travelers who wanted to share their homes and their travel & life experiences after a similar experience staying with distant relatives while attending a family reunion.

Carlin started developing the website in late 1999 and within one year had nearly 700 members! The following two years an additional 1,500 joined and by early 2001 members represented 48 U.S. states, 6 Canadian provinces and 19 countries.

Sadly, Carlin passed away in April 2001. The original domain name, "ElderTravelers.com" expired in the years following and was claimed by another party, but we honor his memory by relaunching the site under the new domain name "ElderTravelers.org".
